Miss Marcia’s Marvelous Stories :: Artwell Gallery :: ages 4-6 :: 10:00-11:30

Watch Miss Marcia weave magic into each story as she moves brightly colored characters and scenery on a large felt board. For an added touch of fun and fantasy, she uses puppets, props and costumes. Creative projects will be made for each story. A marvelous story-telling experience for a young child.

Imagine! Create! and Develop! Students will complete a festive project each day. From Sand Art to Stamping. Each day the student will bring home a new project to share with Mom and Dad.

Beginning Drawing :: Creative Learning Center :: ages 6-9 12:30-2:30pm
Beginning Drawing introduces young students to basic techniques such as: line, shape, texture, color, value and space using direct observation as well as imagination. Fun projects will be geared towards developing drawing skills while encouraging personal expression and creativity.

JULY 11-15
Creative Movement Classes :: Artwell Gallery :: ages 3-5 :: 10:30-11:30am ages 6-10 :: 12:30-11:30pm :: adults :: 6:00-9:00pm

These creative movement classes are designed for children, teens and adults. The class will build coordination, small & large motor skills, balance, rhythm, social skills and musical expression.  This class will allow children to explore movement & music through exercises and games.  The movement will range from creative dance to fun yoga shapes for young children and a range of different types of dance from ballet, jazz, hip-hop, African to an introduction to yoga for teens and adults. 

A MOVEABLE ART: PUPPET MAKING :: Creative Learning Center :: ages 8 & up :: 10:00-12:00am
In this class, we’ll explore the creative world of puppets in popular culture, and make our own!  We will be making finger puppets, stick puppets, sock puppets, and simple marionette or rod puppets using common, every day materials in wild and imaginative ways.

Master Drawing Workshop :: Artwell Gallery :: ages 10 & up :: 12:30-2:30pm
From pencil to ink! Develop your drawing and observation skills to the next level, using a variety of media with a variety of subjects.

Wacky Abstract Art :: Creative Learning Center :: ages 10 & up :: 3:00-5:00
Art in it’s many forms is naturally beautiful.  As a human race we take for granted the most beautiful of things on a daily basis.  Even the simplest of things can be turned into something beautiful.  We will experiment, we will learn, and most of all have fun.  We will take the basic dish soap foam into wild spacescapes.  We will use milk and food dye to create wild multicolored landscapes! And we will paint! But only with the backs of our paint brushes.  With these unorthodox ways of creating art, we will adventure into the unknown; coming out the other side covered in paint!


JULY 18-22
The Blue Period :: Creative Learning Center :: ages 4-6 :: 10:00-11:30am

From potato stamps to finger paints, in this class we will explore some of the many uses for blue paint. Everyday we will start a new project in a different medium. Students will learn how to mix blue with other colors to make new ones. We will be working with a variety of craft supplies, some of which can be messy. *Smocks highly recommended*

Wild and Wonderful World of Mask Making :: Creative Learning Center :: ages 8 & Up ::
12:30-2:30pm

Together, we’ll explore the colorful  history and mythology behind masks in world arts and culture. Imagine and  create your own masquerade mask and one full faced, decorative mask. You  will learn 3-D design and construction in paper mache, plaster of paris, or soft sculpture, and an array of fun embellishment techniques.

The Art of Altered Books :: Creative Learning Center :: adults :: 6:00-8:00pm
Author your own book(s) visually between the pages of discarded books! We will explore the following techniques on a daily basis: collage, transfer processes, simple printmaking applications, wax resist, and creating patinas. Bring your ideas, we will teach you
the rest!

JULY 25-29
Draw, Print, Paint and Sculpt ::
Creative Learning Center :: ages 6-10 ::

Tons of creative fun! Students will create and complete a new project each day in a different medium :: Drawing, Painting, Printing, and Clay Sculpture. *Smocks highly recommended*

Mixed Media Self Portraits :: Creative Learning Center :: ages 10 & up :: 12:30-2:30pm
This class is designed to allow students an opportunity to creatively explore self portraiture through individual instruction and a variety of media. Explore the expressive use of line, the dramatic values of light and dark and the basics of human anatomy. Students will begin by looking at several examples of self portraits and by learning about the basic proportions of the human face. Using graphite, charcoal, pastel, paint, collage, and much more, learn to replicate your own image onto canvas. A fun experimental class for all ages.

Everyday Printmaking :: Creative Learning Center :: adults :: 6:00-8:00pm
We will learn how to use everyday objects to create a variety of art using printmaking techniques. Using different mediums such as paint, crayon shavings and water based ink students will create fun and creative prints- one for each day we meet.

AUGUST 1-5
Paper Collage :: Creative Learning Center :: ages 6 & 10 :: 10:00-12:00am

By using collage techniques, we will make exciting and creative works of art. We will make an imaginative collage inspired by a favorite poem or story, as well as a more personal work using photographs of family and friends. The final project will be a 3D mask collage utilizing everything learned over the week.

Pastel Dreamscapes :: Creative Learning Center :: ages 10 & up :: 12:30-2:30pm ::
adults :: 6:00-8:00pm

Learn how to use pastels, soft or oil, to create dreamscapes from your favorite landscape photograph. Learn about composition, texture through mark making, form, and beginning color theory. Please bring with you a 11x14 pad of watercolor paper, a pencil, ruler, and a landscape photograph of choice, we will provide the pastels.

Jewelry :: Artwell Gallery :: ages 10 & up ::
12:30-2:30pm

Students will explore a number of different techniques, from working with semi-precious metals, stones & glass to?create both “functionable” & “sculptural” designs.?We will create at least 3 different pieces of jewelry throughout the week.

LOGOS AND LETTERS :: Adobe Illustrator

We will learn how logos and letters speak and how they can say more than you see at first glance. You will apply these ideas using Illustrator to create your own logos for use on clothing, websites, on your facebook page, on business cards, and resumes.

HOW TO SPEAK USING PICTURES :: Photoshop

How do pictures talk to us when we play online, watch TV or read magazines? What do these images say? Can we take these images and use them to say something new by putting them together in new ways? Using Photoshop we will learn how to with speak with pictures, play with images and create new art from them.

QUICK AND EASY:: Wordpress

One of the fastest and easiest ways to set up a website is through a free online service known as Wordpress.com. This course will teach students how to use Wordpress.com to create a website or blog. Students may want to use Wordpress to create a blog, upload their stories or share their artwork. An emphasis will be placed on sharing work and information but also maintaining privacy and what is appropriate for sharing online. By the end of the course students will have a website and know how to maintain and upload new content.

Discovering through Documentary
There are stories all around us waiting to be found and explored! In this course students will learn how to use cameras and video editing software to explore the world. We will look at clips from documentaries and listen to great audio interviews for inspiration. Students will learn about organizing their thoughts and ideas and research methods and create a short 3 – 5 minute video.
